Describes safety requirements for electrically operated commercial ranges, ovens, hob elements and other appliances for commercial use, not for household use. Applicable to electrical part of appliances making use of other forms of energy, and the influence of non-electrical parts on electrical parts must be taken into consideration. Excludes hot cupboards, microwave ovens, ovens used for industrial purposes, continuous process ovens for mass production of foods, forced convection ovens and appliances used in means of transport. Performance requirements for electrically operated commercial catering equipment are covered by BS 4167.
