General notes:
This standard is the subject of transitional arrangements agreed under a European Commission mandate. In order to allow for any changes in national regulations, the Commission in consultation with Member States has agreed a transition period for the co-existence of EN 1995-1-2 and corresponding national standards. At the end of this coexistence period BS 5268-4.1:1978 and BS 5268-4.2:1990 will be withdrawn.
