Establishes stiffness and strength of mechanical fasteners used in jointing wood-based and timber materials. The procedures cover the withdrawal, pull-through and lateral strength of joints and the tension and shear strength of punched metal fasteners. With modification of the test specimens, the tests may be used to establish the effects on joint strength of various factors related to the design of joints such as end and edge distances, number and spacing of fasteners, thickness of members, depth of penetration, moisture content, etc.
