CONTAINED IN VOL. 01.01, 2008Deals with a unified numbering system for metals and alloys with "commercial standing" and the method by which these numbers are assigned. Section 2 outlines the system of alphanumeric designations or "numbers" identified for each group of metals and alloys and section 3 describes the organization identified for administering the system. Section 5 outlines the procedure for requesting number assignment to metals and alloys for which UNS numbers have not been assigned previously.
