Gives requirements for an electrosensitive safety system (ESSS) employing a photoelectric sensing unit(s). Excluded are those sensing units that employ radiation of wavelengths outside the range 400 nm to 4,000 nm and that employ radiation other than that generated within the sensing unit systems relying on mechanical means for detection and those employing means other than the interruption of electrical power as a primary output signal. Does not provide the dimensions or configurations of the sensing zone or its disposition in relation to dangerous parts for any particular application, or what constitutes a dangerous state for any machine.
