Defines the Standard Operator Interface (SOI) for Co-ordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) using screen icons and indicators independent of specific CMM capabilities, and as independent as possible of language and terminology constraints. The SOI is to allow a skilled operator to activate any vendor's computer controlled CMM and to initiate and carry out a part inspection using a previously developed inspection program.
