Defines both general test methods and special test methods. The general test methods are aimed for use with the applicable Cordage Institute Synthetic Fiber Rope Standards. These methods determine rope size, uncycled breaking strength and linear density. The special test methods are not called for in Cordage Institute Rope Standards. These test methods are recommended for use on marine ropes, engineering ropes, and other special purpose ropes were applicable. The special test methods determine uncycled extension, cycled breaking strength, cycled extension, wet uncycled breaking strength and extension, and wet cycled extension. The inch-pound values stated within this document are to be considered as standard. The SI unit values are provided for use where required.
