Defines requirements for generators, together with their exciters, to be driven by reciprocating internal combustion engines. These generators have maximum continuous rating, with outputs greater than 0.75 kW or kVA per 1000 r/min, and are of the following types: Salient pole alternating current generators, cylindrical rotor alternating current generators, and direct current generators. Limits are specified for torsional and linear vibration levels which may be imposed by the generator engine. This Part does not cover generators intended for use in ships or traction vehicles, or turbine type machines. The title of the standards publications referred to in this standard are listed on the inside back cover.
