Advises on safety for the following electrical and electrically operated measuring instruments: direct acting indicating, and recording (including those containing electronic devices), indirect acting, and to accessories. Excludes requirements for instruments for use in particular conditions, e.g. weather, explosion, shock, and vibration-proof instruments; intrinsically safe instruments, and instruments for medical applications. Sets out requirements to ensure personal protection and against damage to the surrounding area; gives tests for these requirements; and defines the terminology used for dealing with safety matters.
