Applies to mechanical switching devices for control circuits or auxillary circuits of switchgear and controlgear for controlling, signalling, interlocking. These devices, termed "control switches" are designed to perform solely switching operations and include micro-gap switches. Applies only to devices, with rated insulation voltage not exceeding 1000 V a.c. (at a frequency not exceeding 1000 Hz) or 1200 V d.c. Control switches are: manual control switches, electromagnetically operated control switches, pilot switches, and position switches. Describes characteristics of control switches, especially contact element and actuator, and electrical and mechanical requirements related to: duties to be performed, significance of rated characteristics and of markings and tests to verify rated characteristics.
