Deals with classification of electrodes, measurements, covering identification, initial tests, quality control, periodic check testing, packing and storage and marking. There are appendices which deal with the properties of electrode coverings, testing techniques and safety references. Also covers information to be supplied by the purchaser (when ordering electrodes): the number and the date of the standard; whether a test certificate for the initial tests or for the most recent periodic check tests is needed; the electrode classification, at least the toughness, strength and covering (STC) code and/or the manufacturer's trade designation and whether chemical analysis certificates are required and whether any elements need to be controlled to specific limits.
