Specifies requirements for the approval testing of welders to be engaged on the semi automatic, manual or mechanized fusion welding of those austenitic stainless steel or ferritic steel fabrications for which an approved welding procedure needs to be employed. Not meant to apply to operators of automatic welding equipment. Excludes cast to cast fabrications (see BS 4570 for requirements for welder approval for steel castings). Covers Items to be recorded; Changes not affecting approval and Items to be recorded. Also gives detailed definitions.
