Specifies dimensions and details of test probes meant to verify the protection provided by enclosures with regard to: protection of the equipment inside the enclosure against ingress of solid foreign objects; and protection of persons against access to hazardous parts inside the enclosure. Tries to: guide Technical Committees in the selection of test probes; limit the further proliferation of types of test probe; encourage those concerned to specify test probes in accordance with those specified in this Report rather than modify dimensions and details; and to bring together in one publication access probes and object probes currently specified in other standards, together with any new probe required.
