Describes the general requirements for a wide range of electric heating, electric motor-operated or magnetically-driven appliances for household purposes. Appliances not intended for normal household use, but which nevertheless may be a source of danger to the public are within the scope of this standard. Deals with the common hazards presented by appliances which are encountered by all persons in and around the home. However, except in so far as this standard deals with electric toys, it does not in general take into account the use of appliances by young children or infirm persons without supervision.
