Ensures that bicycles manufactured in compliance with this standard will be as safe as is practicable. The tests have been been designed to ensure the durability and strength of individual parts as well as of the bicycle as a whole; from the design stage onwards, there should be high quality throughout and consideration of safety aspects. The scope has specifically avoided standardisation of components; it has been limited to safety considerations. Coverage includes detailed definitions, brakes, steering, wheels, saddle, chain, and pedal tests. Also includes tabular information and annexes.
