Provides micrographic methods for determining ferrite or austenite grain sizes of steels and the size of grains containing aggregate phases. Describes methods for revealing the grain and for estimating the mean size of the microstructural constituent. The methods can be applied to determine size of any phase in a microstructure containing ferrite and/or pearlite or austenite and/or delta ferrite.
