Contains view of generic requirements and characteristics for single mode passive optical attenuators. Inclusive of information that can be used by suppliers for determining the generic characteristics that Bellcore think are required to give satisfactory service of attenuators. Inclusive of information to assist users to select their attenuators needs. Inclusive of generic operation mechanical and performance criteria and a general description of performance tests. Issue 2 aligns the needs with other Bellcore GRs. Inclusive of radiation and cleaning materials requirements, defines clearly temperature profiles for the controlled and uncontrolled operating environment tests, includes new humidity/condensation cycling test temperature profile and methods and details the reliability criteria and test methods for an optical attenuator quality assurance program.
