CB 025, Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK? Guide) has long been considered the de-facto global standard for project management. However, it only briefly addresses the management of multiple projects and other activities beyond the scope of managing individual projects. The Standard for Program Management was developed by the Project Management Institute (PMI) s to provide program managers with a resource to help them achieve organizational goals. It aims to provide a sufficiently detailed understanding of program management, as well as promote efficient and effective communication and coordination, among various project management groups. Therefore, the Standard is for program managers who would like to improve their skills, project managers who would like to understand more about the role of program managers, portfolio managers who want to learn about the interface between program and project managers, stakeholders who take an interest in the successful execution of a program, and senior managers who would like to improve their understanding of program boards and steering committees.
