Proposes procedures for the life-cycle management of active medical devices. This includes procedures for procurement and disposal, acceptance testing and routine functional testing of medical equipment. The scope of this proposed Standard exceeds that of the earlier version in covering certain non-electrical medical equipment. It is consistent with AS 3200.1 Approval and test specification - Medical electrical equipment, Part 1-1990 General requirements for safety. Proposed as a Joint Australian/New Zealand Standard.
