Describes electric pumps for liquids having a temperature not exceeding 35 Degrees C. Pumps not intended for normal household use, but which nevertheless may be a source of danger to the public are within the scope of this standard. Does not take into account the special hazards which exist in nurseries and other places where there are young children or aged or infirm persons without supervision. Does not apply to pumps for flammable liquids or sewage in which flammable gases are likely to occur, pumps designed exclusively for industrial purposes, pumps used in locations where special conditions prevail, pumps incorporating chlorinators of the electrolytic type, pumps incorporated in appliances covered by a separate Part 2 and sludge pumps. Special conditions may apply in other countries.
