Covers household electric food waste disposers which reduce food waste to particles small enough for discharging them into the household drainage system. Excludes portable food waste disposers, food waste disposers designed exclusively for industrial or commercial purposes, food waste disposers used in locations where special conditions prevail, and food waste disposers of the incinerator type. Food waste disposers used in vehicles or on board ships or aircraft, additional requirements may be necessary. In many countries additional requirements are specified by the national authorities responsible for health water supplies and labour.
