This Standard specifies five methods for measuring the resistance of the outer layer of hoses to ozone. Method A?applied for the hose having inside diameter of 25 mm or under and carried out on the hose itself. Method B?applied for the hose having inside diameter of over 25 mm and carried out on the test piece taken longitudinally from the hose. Method C?applied for the hose having inside diameter of over 25 mm and carried out on the test piece taken from outside layer of the hose. Method D?carried out on the hose itself, of which the inside diameter is not specified. Method E?carried out on the hose itself, of which the inside diameter is not specified. Method A or method B shall normally be used. Method C shall be used only if it is not possible to carry out the test in accordance with method B. The results of tests carried out in accordance with method A may not be comparable with the results obtained when tests are carried out in accordance with method B and method C, notwithstanding that the rubber compounds of outside of the hoses are identical in composition and are cured to the same degree. The test method to be applied shall be in accordance with the product standard.
