Specifies electric strength tests for solid insulating materials at power frequencies which may be used for investigational tests to measure the properties of a new material, design tests to obtain data for design purposes, specification tests to ascertain whether a sample meets the requirements of a specification, routine tests to find out whether a sample of material from a new consignment has the same properties as previous samples of nominally identical material and control tests for the purpose of quality control.
