This directive requires the reporting of hazardous substances found in materials, parts and systems OEMs manufacture and assemble for purposes of dismantling and recycling. In order for OEMs to comply with this directive, it is necessary that the supply chain be engaged as part of the reporting process. This requirement presents a tremendous information management challenge for the entire automotive industry. OEM must comply with the End-of-Life Vehicle (ELV) Directive of the European Union.
