The exposure of plastics to laboratory light sources (e.g. fluorescent lamps) is a method of artificial weathering or ageing designed to accelerate and standardize the ageing process of plastics as compared with outdoor (cf. DIN 53 386) or indoor exposure (cf. DIN 53388) while enabling this process to be measured and reproduced.
