Applies to determination of the mean composition of MSW based on the manual sorting and collection of some samples of waste over a selected time period covering a minimum of one week. Applicable at landfill sites, conversion and waste processing facilities, and transfer stations. Includes procedures for the collection of a representative sorting sample of unprocessed waste, data reduction, manual sorting of the waste into individual waste components, and reporting of the results.
