Sets out the physical and performance requirements for electric circulation pumps used in heating systems or in hot water service systems having an input not exceeding 300W. It specifies marking, hydraulic, reliability acoustic and dimensional requirements. Pumps not intended for household use, but which nevertheless may be a source of danger to the public, are within the scope of BS 1394, but only if they have a rated input not exceeding 300W. Does not take into account the special hazards which exist in nurseries and other places where there are young children or aged or infirm persons without supervision. Pumps used in vehicles or on board ships or aircraft, additional requirements may be necessary.
