General notes:
This standard is the subject of transitional arrangements agreed under a European Commission mandate. In order to allow for any changes in national regulations, the Commission in consultation with Member States has agreed a transition period for the co-existence of EN 1991-2 and corresponding national standards. At the end of this coexistence period BS 5400-1:1988 and BS 5400-2 will be withdrawn.
