In conjunction with DIN 28600, covers PN 40 flanges for ductile iron pipes and fittings. Such flanges are suitable for use with drinking water and service water pipes rated for a nominal pressure of 40 bar. Some of the values specified for outside diameter, bolt hole diameter and facing diameter are different from those specified in DIN 2501 Part 1. However, these differences do not affect the interchangeability of these flanges with the corresponding ones covered in DIN 2501 Part 1, provided the latter are of the same size and have the same pressure rating. Elastomeric gaskets as specified in clause 5 shall be used together with the flanges covered here.
