This testing is used for determining the hardness (IRHD) of specimens of soft rubber. With a high-elasticity material the result corresponds approximately to the Shore A hardness. Materials tending to deform plastically, however, do not yield values comparable tending to deform plastically, however, do not yield values comparable with the Short A hardness. This shall be applied whenever precise and reproducible hardness values have to be stated.
