Proposes the adoption of IEC 998-1:1990 as a Joint Australian/New Zealand Standard which applies to connecting devices as separate entities for the connection of two or more copper conductors. The copper conductors may be flexible or rigid (solid or stranded) having a cross-sectional area of 0.5 mm(sup)2 up to and including 35 mm(sup)2. Part 1 contains the general requirements to be used with the sub-parts of Part 2 which contain particular requirements.
