CONTAINED IN VOL. 14.02, 2006Lays down test method for determining linear thermal expansion of rigid solids using either a Michelson or Fizeau interferometer. Rigid solids in this case are defined as a material which, at test temperature and under stresses imposed by instrumentation, has negligible creep or elastic strain rate, or both, insofar as significantly affecting the precision of thermal length change measurements.
