Testing Of Plastics; Compression Test

The compression test is used to assess the behaviour of plastics when subjected to uniaxial compressive stress. The testing is undertaken on given test specimens under defined conditions of pretreatment, test atmosphere and speed of test. Results of the test can only be compared if equal production conditions for the test specimens and equal test conditions are maintained and they are not therefore necessarily applicable to the behaviour under compressive stress of plastic products of any given design. The compression test is intended chiefly as a quality control.
