Proposes the adoption of IEC 61779-2:1998, which specifies performance requirements for group I (mining) portable, transportable and fixed apparatus for the detection and measurement of methane concentrations in mine air. Its application is restricted to apparatus intended for the detection and measurement of volume ratios of methane in air up to 5 percent. Proposed as a Joint Australian/New Zealand Standard.
