Describes requirements for portable immersion heaters for heating water for household purposes. Includes aquarium immersion heaters. Does not take into account the special hazards that exist in nurseries and other places where there are young children or aged or infirm persons without supervision. Portable immersion heaters are not allowed to be used in bathrooms. Does not apply to appliances designed exclusively for industrial purposes, appliances intended to be used in locations where special conditions prevail, appliances for high frequency heating and professional medical appliances. Appliances intended to be used in vehicles or on board ships or air craft, additional requirements may be necessary.
