Gives requirements of single-mode optical fibre cables intended for use mainly in public telecommunication networks, particularly for use in ducts or directly buried application and aerial cables. Not applicable to functional aspects of cables in the vicinity of overhead power lines, nor optical ground wires and cables attached to the phase or earth conductors of overhead powerlines. Does not include submarine cables.
