Refers to electric dry and steam irons for household purposes. Irons not intended for normal household use, but which nevertheless may be a source of danger to the public are within the scope of this standard. Excludes rotary ironers, flat-bed ironers, irons used in vehicles or on board ships or aircraft, irons used in tropical countries and irons used in locations where conditions prevail. Attention is drawn to the fact that in many countries additional requirements are specified by the national health authorities and the national authorities responsible for the protection of labour.
