Describes engineering procedures to measure sound pressure levels for calculation of octave or one-third octave band and A-weighted sound power levels. Deals with the specification of the basic acoustical requirements for the measurement of noise under free field conditions over a reflecting plane. Coverage includes: the microphone and its associated cable, frequency response of the instrumentation system; weighting network, frequency analyser; calculation of surface sound pressure level; directivity index and directivity factor.
