Provides general guidelines for the preparation of a functional specification of transmission static var compensators (SVCs) by use of conventional thyristor technology. Several Clauses will be valuable for compensator systems using gate turn-off (GTO) thyristor technology (STATCOM)] or other semiconductor devices, or SVCs associated with high-voltage dc (HVDC) converter stations, or industrial and distribution applications. Does not cover general terms and conditions which form the commercial part of a specification for a specific project.
