Applies to single-phase a.c. one-pole disconnectors, earthingswitches and switches designed for indoor or outdoor fixed installations for operation at frequencies of 16 2/3 Hz and 50 Hz on traction systems having an UNm above 1 kV up to 52 kV. Alsoapplies to two-pole disconnectors, earthing switches and switchesconnected in the following manner: a) one pole supplying theconnection to the contact line of the track, the other supplyingthe connection to the feeder cable which runs alongside the sametrack and is used to boost the track voltage at regular intervalsin combination with auto-transformers; or b) the two poles of thedisconnector, earthing switch or switch are connected in series to provide secure isolation (i.e. two breaks in series).
