Describes safety requirements and methods of test for storage water heaters with rated heat inputs up to 20 kW. Excludes appliances with fan-powered combustion circuits or fan-assisted flues. For appliances burning 2nd family gases it is assumed that a meter governor is fitted and for appliances burning 3rd family gases it is assumed that gas supply from container has a pressure regulator complying with BS 3016. Requirements for controls, relate to controls fitted to, or supplied with, particular appliances, not to controls intended for general use.
