Specifies the test methods to be used for testing polymeric insulating and sheathing materials of electric cables for telecommunications and power distribution including cables used on ships. Gives the methods for determining the density, shrinkage test and water absorption tests which apply to the most common types of insulating and sheathing compounds (elastomeric, PE, PVC, PP, etc.). Coverage includes test values, applicability, type tests and other tests, pre-conditioning, and test temperature.
