Applying together with DIN EN 545 for water pipelines and DIN EN 969 for gas pipelines, this standard specifies dimensions and requirements for ductile iron spigot-and-socket fittings with branching, provided with a cement mortar lining and a bitumen coating. Such fittings are intended for use in PN 10 to PN 40 drinking water supply systems and in gas pipelines rated for pressures up to 4 bar; if a gas pipeline is subject to pressures of 4-16 bar, its lining should be a subject for agreement.
