Applies to loadbearing structural members ('members', for short) of steel road bridges and foot bridges. For railway bridges, the building regulations and operating instructions applicable to the railway system concerned shall also be complied with. Applied only in conjunction with Standards DIN 18800 Part 1, March 1991 edition, and DIN 18800 Part 7, May 1983 edition (all relevant references are to these editions), as it only gives specifications differing from or supplementing these standards.
