Specifies recommendations for the retrieval, handling and analysis of surgical implants and associated specimens that are removed from patients routinely, during revision surgery of post-mortem. This is aimed to give a guide to prevent damage to the specimens which could obscure the investigation results. Concerned with 'dense', 'stable' ceramics such as alumina and tetragonal zirconia. Should be used in accordance with national regulations or legal requirements concerning the analysis and handling of retrieved implants and tissues and the biological material associated with these.
