Establishes requirements and tests for electrical controls either electrically operated or designed to control an electrical function, or both, with a voltage not exceeding 500 V and a current not exceeding 63 A, for use with appliances and apparatus for household and similar general purposes. Applies to controls which may be integrated with, or incorporated in or on, appliances and also to independently mounted controls and to free-standing controls. Based on the assumption that, in normal use, the voltage between the supply lines and earth does not exceed 250 V. Applicable to controls incorporating electronic devices, units or assemblies.
