Part of ISO 9308, covers a miniaturized method for the detectionand enumeration of Escherichia (E. coli) in waste and surfacewater by inoculation in a liquid medium. Applies to all types ofwaste and surface waters, particularly those rich in suspendedmatter. Method is not suitable for drinking water and any othertype of water for which the guideline is less than 15 counts per100 ml. Method is not appropriate for enumeration and detectionof coliform bacteria other than E. coli.
