The principles expressed are applicable to all types of software, and cover feasibility study through full development to in-service use, maintenance and support. Does not cover the ramifications of safety critical software, where extra quality practices need to be established to meet the approval of the safety assessment authority. Covers definitions, customer's specification, supplier's response, procurement specification, software life cycle management planning, software quality, suppliers' codes of practice, project management, design techniques, programming techniques, documentation, design review, tests and trials, transfer to customer and documentation.
