This Technical Reference (TR) comprises three components which\nstipulate the definitions and descriptions of the conditions of freight containers;\nprovide the user with guidelines on the conduct of visual survey of freight containers; and\nrecommend the relay and acknowledgement of the condition of the freight container at each handover point of the freight container through the container supply chain.\nThis TR does not cover details of training necessary for its effective implementation. To be effective, suitable training conducted by qualified trainers is recommended.\nRecommended training shall include the following topics:\n- Intended purpose of the container equipment interchange receipt (CEIR);\n- Definitions of normal dents and reportable damages;\n- Requirements and safety considerations in the conduct of the visual survey; and\n- Documentation and transmission of information with photographic evidence to the relevant parties.
