Establishes a method for the detection and enumeration ofintestinal enterococci in water by membrane filtration. Intendedespecially for examination of drinking water, and water from swimming pools and other disinfected or clean waters. The methodcan, however be applied to all types of water, except when largeamounts of suspended matter or interfering microorganisms arepresent. Suitable particularly for examining large volumes ofwater containing only a few intestinal enterococci.
